I had an awesome weekend, driving and hiking through the Snowy Mountains in the alpine region of New South Wales, Australia. It's "early season" here, and there were plenty of hotel rooms in Jindabyne, the nearest major township to the ski resorts and the Kosciusko National Park, where all of the early snow has fallen.
There isn't any snow on the road to Charlotte Pass until you're inside the National Park (which costs $27 per car to enter).
